A couple of free iOS games that debuted within the last week have made some noise, but right now, no one seems to be able to shake Facebook Messenger from the top spot on the iOS Free App Chart.
Messenger made it another week at number one, sitting on top each day during the last seven. Both Wipeout 2,a game based on the TV show that makes people run through zany obstacle courses, and Madden NFL Mobile, the latest phone and tablet iteration of the mega-popular sports franchise, broke into the top 10, shuttling around in various spots since their respective releases.
Two non-game apps also made some noise over the past week. One is Hyperlapse, Instagram’s cool new app that stabilizes video and turns phones into time-lapse cameras. The other is FaceQ, a cartoon avatar creator that currently sits in the number two spot among free apps.
Not much is new to report on the other iOS charts, where Warner Bros.’ Heads Up! is showing some longevity as the top paid app and Clash of Clans continues to bring in the most revenue. The Android chart leaders also look exactly the same as we roll into September, with Facebook Messenger, Minecraft and Clash of Clans leading among free apps, paid apps and top revenue producers, respectively.
