Since many gamers were excited for Hearthstone because it was set in the World of Warcraft universe (or because they’re just Blizzard fans in general), it stands to reason that there aren’t many people who have played the popular card battle game and don’t play the MMO that came before it.
I happen to be one of those people, though, which is why the Blizzard offer that arrived in my inbox today at least got me to sit up and take notice. Because of my Hearthstone play, I can get a free digital copy of World of Warcraft, including all content from The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm, plus 30 days of game time and a Hearthsteed mount.
It’s certainly an interesting offer, and if Blizzard can use it to hook even a small percentage of Hearthstone players into buying one of the more recent expansions or becoming a subscriber to WoW, it’ll pay for itself pretty easily. I’d be tempted to give it a shot if I wasn’t so short on the real life premium currency: free time.
