If you were one of the many folks who played Guacamelee! and loved it, congrats: you’ve got good taste. If you were part of a smaller sub-group that wanted to know what DrinkBox Studios could do with a mobile game, you’re in luck too, because that’s actually happening.
While many of the specifics aren’t nailed down just yet — small things like platform, release date, and price, which right now is listed as “$1 million (or TBD)” — DrinkBox is busy working on a title called Severed for mobile devices. Described as a touch-based dungeon crawler with light RPG aspects, it’s going to feature a female main character, nonlinear gameplay and the studio’s trademark stylized animation. If that wasn’t enough to intrigue you, App Trigger has it on good authority that Severed brings together elements from some of the developers favorite games, titles like Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!, Mega Man and Myst.
Oh, and a severed limb really does appear to be integral to the plot.
All of those things might not sound like they could possibly be in the same game, but the announcement trailer that DrinkBox had put together begs to differ. Watch it, pick your jaw back up off the floor, and look for more info on Severed as we get it.
