Facebook Messenger Continues To Top Free iOS Chart, Godus Debuts

People with iOS devices still want to chat using Facebook, even though they now need to use the standalone Messenger app to do it.

That much is clear since the Facebook Messenger app is sitting atop the U.S.  iOS Free App Chart for the second straight week according to App Annie. It’s also number one on the Google Play Free App Chart for Android, giving Facebok the top two spots there in tandem with its regular app.

Also making an impact this week among free iOS downloads are Snake!Snake!Snake!, a twist on the classic snake game, and Run Forrest Run, a somewhat questionable endless runner that is based around the movie Forrest Gump and features the main character … well, running.

While those games are second and third among free iOS downloads respectively, the new mobile game from Peter Molyneux, Godus, debuts in fourth. Developed by his studio 22cans and published by DeNA, it’s a free-to-play take on the god game genre that was arguably invented by Molyneux back in his PC days, and it’s definitely one to watch.

There’s little new to report on the top-grossing charts for iOS or Android, as Supercell’s Clash of Clans is once again number one for both platforms. Pandora Radio is the lone non-game app on either top 10 list, moving up one spot to third on iOS.

All of the current chart info can be found for free on AppAnnie.com.
